Magnetic resonance image (MRI)-based musculoskeletal models represent a powerful tool to estimate the effect of surgical interventions in patients. In this project, we developed a MRI-based subject-specific model with a detailed natural knee joint capable of simultaneously estimate ligament, muscle, tibiofemoral and patellofemoral joint contact forces and secondary joint kinematics. Motion capture and force plate data were used to drive model simulations. Secondary knee joint kinematics where evaluated with subject and motion-specific biplanar X-Ray slot scans, where accurate kinematic estimations were found.
